Enquiry Form #1: For Enrolment Enquiries

Enrolment enquiries: Should you be interested in enroling your child at the school, please use the Enquiry Form #1 below. This will assist us in tailoring our response to you. A member of the admissions staff will then reply to your enquiry.

Please note: Questions with an asterisk require an answer before you can more one to the next section and submit the form.

General enquiries: If you have a general enquiry about the school and are not yet applying to enrol at OIS, or if you have any difficulties completing the form, please use Enquiry Form #2 (below).

Enquiry Form #2: For General Enquiries

If you have an initial enquiry of a general nature, please use this Enquiry Form #2. You do not need to complete the application forms or submit any documentation at this stage. You can send us a message to outline the nature of your enquiry using the form below.

If you are considering enroling at OIS, please do not use Enquiry Form #2; please complete Enquiry Form #1 (above). Again, you do not need to submit any documentation at this stage.

Admissions Procedure

Forms & Documentation

Please use the enquiry forms above to contact the school to begin the application process. Once that step has been completed, and the Admissions Office has replied to you, the main application forms below may be submitted. Please do not submit these forms until asked to do so by the Admissions Office.

All forms are available to download via the Admissions Booklets at the bottom of this page.

In addition to the Student Application Form parents are required to submit the following:

2 letters of recommendation "principal" and "teacher". These documents must be sent directly from the schools to Osaka International School by email (oisadmissions@soismail.jp) or by surface mail. In the latter case, the documents must be sent in a sealed envelope bearing the school stamp. OIS can not accept recommendations or school records sent directly from parents
Student health record. *
Student physical examination report. *
Official records including standardized test results (IOWA, ITBS, ERB, MAP, ISA, TOEFL, etc) from all previous schools attended.
40,000 yen application fee (payable in cash on the interview and evaluation day).
Other information which may be helpful in assessing a student's educational needs

The recommendation and health forms are all available for download with the appropriate Elementary or Middle/High School Application Booklet below. All documents should be mailed directly to the Admissions Office.

* Please note that the health record and physical examination report need only be submitted after successful completion of the admissions process.

Interviews

Students - Osaka International School can not make a firm offer of a place in the school until the admissions process has been successfully completed at the school itself. All students seeking admission to Osaka International School must be interviewed and complete evaluation before a final decision on admission is made. This will happen after application, school records and application fee have been received. Overseas applications should inform the Admissions office of the family's arrival date so that interviews and testing can be scheduled.

Parents - Close cooperation between the home and school is a key ingredient in a successful educational program. As a part of the admissions process Osaka International School requires that both parents, where available , meet with a member of the school staff to discuss their student's educational needs. Parents residing outside Japan may arrange for interviews after arriving in Japan.

Admissions Assessment

All applicants take language, mathematics and cognitive tests as part of the admissions process. Admission for non-English speakers may be limited at each grade level to maintain a strong English language environment. For further ESL information, see the Language Support section of the website.

Notification of Acceptance

Families are notified shortly after the interviews and testing are completed whether they are accepted or not. All decisions are made by the Admissions Committee.

Deferred Acceptance

In the case of applicants residing outside Japan, or in cases where testing is required, notification of acceptance may be deferred until after the interview with the student and the student's parents or the completion of required tests. In these cases, space will be held for possible admission, until after completion of the interviews or the required testing.

Child Protection Policy

Osaka International School and Senri International School share a Child Protection Policy and faculty Code of Conduct which you are encouraged to review prior to or during the application process.

International Baccalaureate General Regulations

All parents with children entering an IB Programme are requested by the IB to read the General Regulations. PDF copies of the regulations for each programme can be found below:
