Serving the educational needs of the international community of the Kansai region of Japan and developing informed, caring, creative individuals contributing to a global community since 1991

About

Osaka International School of Kwansei Gakuin (OIS) and Senri International School of Kwansei Gakuin (SIS) are two sister schools situated in north Osaka that share a campus, a purpose and a mission. OIS is a K-12 school that has over thirty years' experience in offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) PYP curriculum in elementary school, the MYP curriculum in middle school, and the diploma curriculum in high school. Our graduates matriculate into many of the top universities around the world, including the US, the UK, Canada, and Japan.

Admissions

The OIS academic year runs from late August to late June. The year is split into three trimesters, Fall, Winter and Spring, of approximately 60 days each. Our main intake of new students comes at the beginning of the academic year, however we accept admissions throughout the year in order to meet the needs of the international community in Kansai and the rest of Japan.

Learning

The ethos and purpose of OIS and the mission, vision and objectives we share with our sister school, SIS, through the Two Schools Together concept, is to build a better world through intercultural understanding and respect. Our curriculum, built on the International Baccalaureate's three programmes (the PYP, MYP, and DP) aims to do more than other curricula by developing inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who are motivated to succeed. Together, we strive to develop a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success.

Student Life

In addition to a full and varied sports programme, a wide range of after-school clubs, and our popular Spring camps, OIS hosts a series of annual school events that bring the communities of our two schools together. Students and teachers take the lead in organising the School Festival in spring, Sports Day in fall, and the All School Production in winter, while parents are the driving force behind the International Fair in November. All four events offer excellent opportunities for students to learn cooperation, teamwork and leadership skills while making memories that will last a lifetime.
